The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today

Saku is a mess outside of work, her house is full of trash and she's living on instant food, until one freezing winter day she rescues a kitten. The kitten, who she names Yukichi, is horrified by the life she lives and plans to leave, until she saves him from some falling garbage with her own body after bringing him in. He decides to repay this pathetic human, and being a masterful cat, he begins to figure out how to bag trash, cook meals, and generally keep house. He grows gigantic, bigger than she is, and fits the perfect housewife trope. The series never explains why he got so big, nor what is a masterful cat exactly. But as you follow their daily life, you won't mind. It's the perfect cozy comedy for cat lovers.

A Man and his Cat

A Man and his Cat

Fukumaru is a fat, flat faced exotic short hair cat that's grown up in a pet store, never being adopted because people found him ugly. A handsome older man, Kanda, comes in and adopts him, saying how cute he is. Fukumaru and the man love each other so much I cried while reading it. It's a slice of life for the true cat lovers out there, following their daily life as Kanda gets used to caring for a cat, filling his loneliness after his wife passed on, and Fukumaru learns what it means to be loved and wanted. I have the first 12 volumes of the manga and the picture book that was released. It doesn't have an anime yet, but I believe there was a live action adaptation, though i've never seen it.
